Rural Entrepreneurship Ventures (REV)
- Kasson officially started as one of four communities to join the REV cohort along with Caledonia, Plainview, and collectively the cities of Fairfax, Winthrop, and Gibbon.
- Kasson’s REV Core Team, comprised of Ian Albers, Jon Ehmke, Dr. Katie Elmore, Stevie Gransee, John Hanson, and Cathy Pletta, met throughout the year to learn about the REV program and strategize for future involvement in the community. The Core Team was presented with an opportunity to apply for a special grant opportunity through the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF). The application was successful, and the REV Core Team received $20,000 to put towards the project in addition to $5,000 pledged by the EDA. The main focus for the project is to host a series of entrepreneurship-focused workshops put on by the SBDC (Small Business Development Center), with additional opportunities for entrepreneurs to receive one-on-one support. The project is planned to be enacted in 2025
