Mar. 23, 2015. Deborah Markley, co-founder and managing director of The Center for Rural Entrepreneurship, has co-written a chapter in a popular college textbook on community development titled An Introduction to Community Development. Markley, along with John Gruidl, Professor, Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs, Western Illinois University, wrote Chapter 17, “Entrepreneurship as a Community Development Strategy.”

Feb. 25, 2015. As part of this new HomeTown Competitiveness program, the Center is conducting assessments in each of the 4 HTC pillars and will be conducting opportunity retreats in each of 4 pilot communities to help them develop their action plans.
