Leslie Scott is the founder of Entrepreneurial Places LLC, based in Durham NC, started to assist communities with creating effective ecosystems for entrepreneurs. From 2004-2013 Leslie directed North Carolina’s Institute for Rural Entrepreneurship including a $2 million project for the Kellogg Foundation to build a Rural Entrepreneurship Development System in NC. As a trainer certified by the Center for Rural Entrepreneurship, Leslie has facilitated strategic retreats for hundreds of rural community leaders to create economic and social impact through entrepreneurship. She has overseen numerous local demonstrations of incubation and resource clearinghouses. Before 2004, Leslie worked at UNC’s Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise (5 years) and RTI International (13 years). Leslie serves on the boards of innovative nonprofits including the N.C. Indian Economic Development Initiative and the Kerr Tar Regional Economic Development Corporation. She has 20 years of experience studying, witnessing and facilitating community economic development.
